"Rotary International Aims at Global Eradication of Polio by 2005" Korea Times (www.hk.co.kr/times.htm) (12/18/02)
Rotary International, which launched the PolioPlus program in 1985 and has since vaccinated more than 1.4 billion children against polio, hopes to eradicate polio worldwide by 2005. The number of reported polio cases has dropped 99 percent worldwide since 1988. Currently, the disease exists in six countries and only 1,000 cases of the disease are reported each year.
